Once upon a time there was a girl made of paper

Her pages pure and crisp with niavity

As the years went by, she was stained by life

Her story written in the heaviest ink

Scribbles appeared where mistakes were made

And the salt from her tears made the letters fade

She tried to fold herself in to stronger shapes

But she just creased and tore where the memories layed

Before she even had a chance to stand her ground

They huffed and they puffed and she fell down

But she screamed, I don't need any kings men

I'll put myself back together

even though my skin is only paper thin

Now I've discovered

My biggest strength is my fragility

I'll put myself back together

Going back to her roots she built herself wooden limbs

But this time the destruction came from within

As the anger she held on to burnt her from the core

And her ashes fell heavily upon the floor

A million colors scattered showing all the wisdom she gained

Each piece glued together by the lessons she paid

Polished to a shine by the rocks in her path

A flawless diamond is all thats left in the aftermath

Before she even had a chance to stand her ground

They huffed and they puffed but she wouldn't fall down

She just smiled and walked away unhurt

Only turning back around to flick them the bird

I'll put myself back together

even though my skin is only paper thin

Now I've discovered

My biggest strength is my fragility

I'll put myself back together

He was a fire starter

I Loved the heat

Like a knight in shining armor

I thought he'd rescue me

But my tears only washed away his light

And my fears, they were all proven right

I'm no good for you

I'm no good for us

Even the brightest flame

Could not survive the rain

I should've realised long ago

I'm like water to a flame

Water to a flame

My feet are grounded

As you fly up in the cloud

I thought maybe if I surrounded

Myself with lighter crowds

That I could fly with wings of my own

But I, I only brought you down

I'm no good for you

I'm no good for us

Even the brightest flame

Could not survive the rain

I should've realised long ago

I'm like water to a flame

When the sun and rain collide

A rainbow is made

But you can never touch a rainbow

(No matter how hard you try)

Everyone knows that opposites attract

But that doesn't mean they're made to last

I'm no good for you

I'm no good for us

Even the brightest flame

Could not survive the rain

I should've realised long ago

I'm like water to a flame

Water to a Flame
